Anita M. Schwarz

Anita M. Schwarz is Lead Economist in the Human Development Department in the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region, specifically focused on pensions work. She is currently working on pension issues throughout the region, especially focused in Serbia, Albania, and Georgia. She was also recently working in Kosovo, Poland, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Slovak Republic. She is the lead author in the World Bank’s 2014 pensions report, “The Inverting Pyramid.”
Previous to her current appointment, she was lead economist in the Bank’s Social protection department where she was team leader for the pensions work throughout the Bank. Her work there included working on pension reforms in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Romania, Malta, Thailand, and Morocco. She was part of the research department team which produced “Averting the Old Age Crisis,” the Bank’s seminal initiation into the world of pension reform. She has subsequently published country specific work related to reforms where she has worked as well as more analytical pieces.
She holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago and was an assistant professor at the University of Delaware and at the Foreign Service Institute before joining the World Bank.

Mr. Tshering Dorji C is working as Chief of Planning and Research Division in the National Pension and Provident Fund (NPPF) of Bhutan since 2014. NPPF is responsible for providing Pension and Provident Fund benefits to civil servants, corporate employees and members of the armed forces of Bhutan. Moreover, during his tenure at NPPF of Bhutan, he has headed the Regional Office at Phuentsholing from 2010 to 2014, Civil Pension and Provident Fund Division from 2008 to 2010 and headed the Armed Forces Pension and Provident Fund Division of NFFP from 2000 to 2006. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (International Business) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Hons.).

Mr. Mohamed Hussain Maniku

Mohamed Hussain Maniku has been the Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Pension Administration Office since its inception in 2009. Maldives Pension Administration office is in charge of the mandatory Pension Schemes for employees/employers in Maldives. The assets under custody as at Dec 2014 are 422 Million USD.
Mr. Maniku began his career at Department of Finance, presently the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and held number of senior management posts. He gained vast exposure in corporate business settings in many functional areas before assuming the post of Managing Director of State Trading Organization (STO) in 1993. He has held directorships in number of companies during his tenure with STO. He was instrumental in transforming the company from an import and distribution company to a holding company engaged in international trading. In February 2008, Mr. Maniku was appointed as Maldivian Ambassador to United States of America. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from American University of Beirut, Lebanon.
Ms. Mariyam Visam

Ms. Mariyam Visam assumed the position of Registrar of Companies in January 2014. Her function at the Ministry of Economic Development includes business registration, issuance of permits and licenses as well as foreign investment registrations. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) concurrent to her appointment as the Registrar of Companies. Prior to this, she has completed 6 years of service in the Maldives Financial Sector holding key positions including Deputy CEO of CMDA and Board Member of the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO). During this period she gained vast exposure in Economic policy planning & formulation, Capital market industry, Designing, Implementation and oversight of defined contributory pension systems, Structuring financial products, Risk based supervision, Rule-based supervision, Securities regulation and Corporate Governance.
Moreover, Ms. Visam specializes in Risk Management by training and also contributes to the academia by facilitating training programs and undergraduate courses in the area of Corporate Governance, Risk Management & Business Ethics.
MS. Visam holds a Master’s Degree in Business Economics from University of Queensland, Australia, and BA (Hons) in Marketing Management from University of Northumbria, Newcastle, UK.
Mr. Ahmed Naseer

Mr. Ahmed Naseer is the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Market Development Authority of Maldives, and serves on its Board of Directors. He is also a member of the National Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Council. Prior to being appointed as the CEO of CMDA on February 2015, Mr. Naseer served as the Minister of State for Finance and Treasury. He also served as a Deputy Manager and subsequently as a Manager at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
Mr. Naseer has accumulated substantial experience through his engagements in the financial sector of Maldives and made significant contributions to the development of economic policies during the course of his service at senior State positions. Mr. Naseer also has valuable experience in the private sector as an entrepreneur, and continues to contribute to the SME sector of Maldives.
Mr. Naseer holds a Master’s Degree in Policy Economics from Williams College of Massachusetts, USA, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Economics & Marketing) from Curtin University of Technology, Australia.
Mr .Ahmed Munawar

Mr. Ahmed Munawar is currently working at Ministry of Finance and Treasury as the State Minister of Finance & Treasury and in charge of Resource Mobilization & Debt Management Division (RMDMD). He is an Economist by profession. He holds membership of the Board of Directors at Maldives Monetary Authority and assumes the post of Alternative Governor at Islamic Development Bank.
Prior to being appointed as the State Minister of Finance & Treasury, Mr. Munawar completed more than 10 years of service in the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) holding key positions of senior management including Senior Manager (Economist)/Monetary at Policy Research and Statistics Division, Manager/Monetary Policy Sections at Monetary Policy & Research Division and Deputy Manager/Statistics Section at Economics Research & Statistics Division. Moreover he has worked at Ministry of Economic Development as the National Director of the Central Project Management Unit.
Mr. Munawar has accumulated substantial experience through his engagements in the financial sector of Maldives and through technical committees and Board representations. Also, he have made significant contributions to the development of the country in the financial sector.
Mr. Ahmed Munawar holds a Master of Economics & Finance (Major in Monetary Economics) from Macquarie University, Australia, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics & Finance (Hons) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia.
Mr. Ahmed Imad

Mr. Ahmed Imad currently holds the post of the Manager, Financial Sector Development Unit at Maldives Monetary Authority. He is mainly responsible for overseeing and supervising the work of the Financial Sector Development Unit (FSD), and implementing financial sector development plan accordingly. In addition, he undertakes the task of strategic analysis and assist with strategic planning related to financial sector development.
He began his career at Maldives Monetary Authority, and held a number of senior management posts, including Executive Officer at Non-Bank Financial Institution Section and Deputy Manager at Monetary Policy Research Division of MMA for 6 year. Moreover, recently he has held the post of Senior Monetary Analyst at Monetary Policy Section from 2013 to 2014.
Mr. Imad has gained knowledge of financial policy programming, monetary and financial statistics and anti- money laundering through workshops held by difference financial Institutions. He holds a Master of Science in Economics and Finance from University of Durham, UK and a Bachelor of Business in Economics and Finance from Metropolitan College, Malaysia, affiliated with Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia.
